Research Field:

 

Development of biocompatible acrylic bone cement formulations by the addition of hydroxyapatite and chitosan to improve biocompatibility and mechanical properties. Characterization of mechanical and thermal properties are being carried out and in vitro biocompatibility tests of bone cements are conducted.

Scaffold design for bone tissue engineering with different processing techniques, testing in vitro performance of prepared scaffolds and optimization. Chitosan with different levels of deacetylation as thebiodegradable biopolymeric component, aswell as hydroxyapatite as the mineral component and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA)will be used in the preparation of scaffold.
