The research on bone tissue engineering led by Prof. Nesrin Hasirci of Department of Chemistry (METU), also member of BIOMATEN, was recently covered by Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency (AA). Here we present the article published by AA.

In the study conducted with the leadership of METU a new generation implant based on use of stem cells was developed to heal bone fractures in 6 - 8 weeks instead of 6 months. Professor Nesrin Hasirci of the Department of Chemistry (METU), also a member of the Advisory Board of METU Center of Excellence in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (BIOMATEN), gave information to Anatolian Agency reporters about their studies at the Center on biomaterials and tissue engineering, and on patient specific implants.
